Stone or flesh?

“There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoiled, the whole body gets spoiled – and that is the heart.”

[Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 49: Part of the Hadith Narrated by An-Nu’man bin Bashir]

The heart. Our core. Our compass.

Due to its importance, I will often write about the heart. The condition it should be in, its nature, how to protect it and how to save it.

Safeguarding our heart is safeguarding our mind, body and soul. It brings tranquillity, humility and ease.

No matter how we are in the dunya, what our state of affairs are, if our hearts are firm upon Qur’an and Sunnah, it will be soft towards what Allah loves and hard towards that which he hates.

As you read this, what state is your heart in?
